Every man here is ID-verified. You see his photos; he sees yours only after you approve him. Your phone and email are never shown to anyone. Photos appear when she approves your request. Every interest you send carries a note you wrote, so make it count. Her contact details are never shown; she shares them if she wants to.

Telugu Brisbane

The community in Brisbane

Telugu is one of the fastest-growing languages in Australia, spoken at home by about 62,000 people at the 2021 census. Most of that community arrived on skilled visas in the last fifteen years, which means a lot of people whose families are still in Hyderabad or Vijayawada.

The South Asian community in Brisbane is strongest in Eight Mile Plains, Calamvale, Runcorn, Sunnybank Hills and Springfield. Those are also the places a search on Rishta tends to start, though most members open theirs to the whole city and often to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane too.

Telugu families here are usually doing this across a ten-hour time difference, with parents in India and the couple in Australia. Rishta is built for that: Family View gives your parents a read-only link they can open on WhatsApp without an account, so they can see a profile properly instead of having screenshots forwarded to them. Language, community, caste-no-bar and diet are all filters, and photos stay private until she approves.

Built in, not promised

How Rishta works for Telugus in Brisbane

Filters Telugus here actually use: Telugu mother tongue · Community, or no bar · Vegetarian / non-veg · Family View for parents in India · Citizen, PR or visa.

Verified or invisible
Government ID and a liveness check before anyone can search or be searched. Unverified accounts see nothing and are shown to no one.
No firehose
Every interest has to carry a written note, so nobody can bulk-send. Interests from outside her preferences wait in a separate folder that never notifies her. She can pause everything for a month without deleting anything.
Contact details are never displayed
No phone number and no email on any profile, ever, at any membership level. She shares them herself, one person at a time, after she has said yes.
Family View link
A curated, read-only profile you can send your parents on WhatsApp. They see what you choose. No account needed.
A matchmaker, never from your city
Australian members are looked after by matchmakers based in Auckland and in other Australian cities, never their own. She will not run into you at a wedding. Free for women; on the Vichola tier ($199/month) she searches and approaches on a man’s behalf.

Questions Telugus in Brisbane ask us

Is Rishta open in Brisbane?
Not yet. We open a city when there are enough verified women in it for introductions to be real, and Brisbane is on the list. Join the waitlist and we’ll tell you the moment it opens; nobody is charged while waiting.
How is this different from Shaadi.com for Telugus in Brisbane?
Three ways. Every man shows government ID and passes a liveness check before he can search. Women decide who can find them, and their photos are hidden until they approve someone. And no phone number or email is ever displayed on a profile, at any membership level. There is a longer comparison at /rishta-vs-shaadi.
Do women pay?
No, and nothing is held back. Search, messaging, photo privacy and a matchmaker are all free for women, permanently. Men pay, because a platform where women actually reply is worth paying for.
Can my parents be involved?
Yes. Family can pay for a son’s membership, can see a Family View page you choose the contents of, and can speak to your matchmaker with your consent. What they can’t do is create or run a profile for someone who hasn’t agreed to it.
Can I filter by community and mother tongue?
Yes. Mother tongue, religion, community (with “caste no bar” always available), diet, family origin and residency status are all filters, and any of them can be a must-have.

A note from the founder

I spent six months on a paid plan on the biggest matrimonial site in the world, searching honestly for someone to marry from here. I found roughly ten men for every woman, a paid plan that produced nothing, and a fake profile I could make in minutes.

Rishta is what I wished had existed: women free with nothing held back, photos hidden until she says yes, every man verified, every interest written by hand, no phone numbers on the page, and a matchmaker who is never from your city. I built it because I am looking too.
