Every man here is ID-verified. You see his photos; he sees yours only after you approve him. Your phone and email are never shown to anyone. Photos appear when she approves your request. Every interest you send carries a note you wrote, so make it count. Her contact details are never shown; she shares them if she wants to.

Jat Sikh Sydney

The community in Sydney

New South Wales had about 47,000 Sikhs at the 2021 census, the second-largest community in Australia, concentrated in Sydney’s north-west and west.

Glenwood and Blacktown are the heart of Sikh Sydney; the Harris Park and Parramatta strip is where the wider Punjabi community meets.

The South Asian community in Sydney is strongest in Blacktown, Glenwood, Schofields, Quakers Hill, Riverstone, Parramatta and Harris Park, and the Jat Sikh community gathers around the gurdwaras in Glenwood, Revesby, Parklea and Austral. Those are also the places a search on Rishta tends to start, though most members open theirs to the whole city and often to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane too.

Many Jat Sikh families still prefer to marry within the community, and many of their children would rather not be asked. Rishta lets both be true: community is a filter and a must-have if you want it, and “caste no bar” if you don’t, and nobody is ever told which one you chose. Either way you see verified people, and women decide who sees them.

Built in, not promised

How Rishta works for Jat Sikhs in Sydney

Filters Jat Sikhs here actually use: Jat Sikh, or caste no bar · Keeps kesh · Vegetarian · Family in Punjab or here · Citizen, PR or visa.

She decides who can find her
Every woman chooses: visible to all verified men, only to men who match her preferences, or to nobody but her matchmaker. The default is preferences-only, and there are no public profile pages for anyone.
Verified or invisible
Government ID and a liveness check before anyone can search or be searched. Unverified accounts see nothing and are shown to no one.
No firehose
Every interest has to carry a written note, so nobody can bulk-send. Interests from outside her preferences wait in a separate folder that never notifies her. She can pause everything for a month without deleting anything.
Contact details are never displayed
No phone number and no email on any profile, ever, at any membership level. She shares them herself, one person at a time, after she has said yes.
A matchmaker, never from your city
Australian members are looked after by matchmakers based in Auckland and in other Australian cities, never their own. She will not run into you at a wedding. Free for women; on the Vichola tier ($199/month) she searches and approaches on a man’s behalf.

Questions Jat Sikhs in Sydney ask us

Is Rishta open in Sydney?
Not yet. We open a city when there are enough verified women in it for introductions to be real, and Sydney is on the list. Join the waitlist and we’ll tell you the moment it opens; nobody is charged while waiting.
How is this different from Shaadi.com for Jat Sikhs in Sydney?
Three ways. Every man shows government ID and passes a liveness check before he can search. Women decide who can find them, and their photos are hidden until they approve someone. And no phone number or email is ever displayed on a profile, at any membership level. There is a longer comparison at /rishta-vs-shaadi.
Do women pay?
No, and nothing is held back. Search, messaging, photo privacy and a matchmaker are all free for women, permanently. Men pay, because a platform where women actually reply is worth paying for.
Can my parents be involved?
Yes. Family can pay for a son’s membership, can see a Family View page you choose the contents of, and can speak to your matchmaker with your consent. What they can’t do is create or run a profile for someone who hasn’t agreed to it.
Can I filter by kesh and by community?
Yes. Keeps kesh, turban, amritdhari and how observant are all profile fields you can set as must-haves. Community is there for those who want it, with “caste no bar” always available, and nobody is told which you chose.

A note from the founder

I spent six months on a paid plan on the biggest matrimonial site in the world, searching honestly for someone to marry from here. I found roughly ten men for every woman, a paid plan that produced nothing, and a fake profile I could make in minutes.

Rishta is what I wished had existed: women free with nothing held back, photos hidden until she says yes, every man verified, every interest written by hand, no phone numbers on the page, and a matchmaker who is never from your city. I built it because I am looking too.
