Every man here is ID-verified. You see his photos; he sees yours only after you approve him. Your phone and email are never shown to anyone. Photos appear when she approves your request. Every interest you send carries a note you wrote, so make it count. Her contact details are never shown; she shares them if she wants to.
Melbourne’s Gujarati community is one of the largest in Australia, strongest through the south-east and the western suburbs, and organised around temples, samaj associations and Navratri that fills halls for nine nights.
The South Asian community in Melbourne is strongest in Craigieburn, Tarneit, Truganina, Point Cook, Cranbourne, Officer, Pakenham and Wollert. Those are also the places a search on Rishta tends to start, though most members open theirs to the whole city and often to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane too.
Gujarati families tend to want a match who shares the language at home and fits a household that is usually vegetarian and often in business. Rishta has mother tongue as a filter, diet as a filter that separates vegetarian from eggetarian, and family origin as its own field, so a Gujarati family that came by way of East Africa or Fiji is not lumped in with everyone else. Community is there if you want it and “no bar” if you don’t.
Built in, not promised
Filters Gujaratis here actually use: Gujarati mother tongue · Vegetarian / Jain · Community, or no bar · Family business or profession · Family origin · Citizen, PR or visa.
A note from the founder
I spent six months on a paid plan on the biggest matrimonial site in the world, searching honestly for someone to marry from here. I found roughly ten men for every woman, a paid plan that produced nothing, and a fake profile I could make in minutes.
Rishta is what I wished had existed: women free with nothing held back, photos hidden until she says yes, every man verified, every interest written by hand, no phone numbers on the page, and a matchmaker who is never from your city. I built it because I am looking too.
